NOTICE OF TOWN OF DUTCH JOHN MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR 2017

A Town of Dutch John Municipal Election will be held on NOVEMBER 7, 2017, General Election to elect two (2) Town Council Members to serve four-year terms.   If necessary, a primary election will be held on August 15, 2017.
Each person seeking to become a candidate must file a Declaration of Candidacy Form in person with the Town Recorder, Harriet Dickerson, at 103 – 2nd Ave., Dutch John, Utah, between June 1, 2017 through June 7, 2017.  She will be available on those dates between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm.  Additionally, any resident of the Town of Dutch John may nominate a candidate for office by filing a Nomination Petition with the Town Recorder between June 1, 2017 and June 7, 2017.
TO RUN FOR OFFICE A CANDIDATE MUST:

Be a registered voter of Daggett County. (US Citizen and 18 years old)
Must have resided in the Town of Dutch John for the 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the election.
Any mentally incompetent person, any person convicted of a felony, or any person convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise may not hold office in this State until the right to vote or hold office has been restored.
A person may be a candidate for only one office at any one election.

Requirements for filing:

Candidates shall submit a declaration of candidacy form to the Town Clerk/Recorder between June 1, 2017 and June 7, 2017, during the hours of 8am and 5pm, download the form by clicking the link or;



A nominating petition may be submitted to the Town Clerk/Recorder signed by 25 residents of the Town of Dutch John who are 18 years old or older, or 20% of the residents who are 18 years old or older and must be filed with the Town Clerk/Recorder between June 1, 2017 and June 7, 2017 during the hours of 8am to 5pm. Contact the Town Clerk for a copy of the petition.

NOTICE OF CANCELLATION OF MUNICIPAL ELECTION

CANCELATION OF LOCAL ELECTION

WHEREAS pursuant to UCA 10-3-301, notice was duly given for election of two Dutch John Town Council Members pursuant to 10-3-205.5(1) and Ordinance 2016-01, Election of Governing Body was noticed and passed on April 24, 2017 pursuant to 20A-9-601 UCA, and

WHEREAS, the date for candidate filing ended June 7, 2017, with two candidate filings received: Harriet Dickerson and Sandra Kunkel; and

WHEREAS, the last day for filing as a write-in candidate was September 8, 2018 and no candidate filings were received; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to I-JCA 20A-9-601 the number of eligible candidates, including write-in candidates, did not exceed the number of open at-large local district offices for which the candidates filed; and

WHEREAS, each of the candidates is unopposed; and

WHEREAS, there are no other municipal ballot propositions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Harriet Dickerson and Sandra Kunkel are considered to be elected for the two positions on the Dutch John Town Council, their term commencing January 8, 2018.

Posting of this Resolution fulfills all requirements for Cancellation of Local Election pursuant to 20A-1-206 UCA.
